Many custard and yellow satin cased glass items from this period (1880-1900) contain small amounts of Uranium Oxide and may glow under a UV light.

Identifying Uranium Glass: The glow is typically a vivid green under a long-wave UV or blacklight, though the intensity can vary according to the formula, thickness, and age of the glass. A UV light can be a useful collecting tool, but it should be used alongside other identification methods, including colour, pattern, maker’s marks, and period-correct construction.

War time authorities regulated everything during WW2 and beer was no different. This 1940 ULVA no# 5 pony glass standardised the amounts. Hard to come by. In perfect condition.

A small piece of wartime history: The UlVS (United Licensed Victuallers Association) marking reflects the strict controls placed on licensed premises, including measured serves and glassware specifications. Retro Opaline Florence by Vetreria Barbieri, Empoli Italy in 1960's-70's

Distinctive Italian Opaline Glass: Produced in Empoli, a celebrated centre of Italian glassmaking, Vetreria Barbieri pieces from this era are admired for their softly luminous opaline finish and expressive mid-century forms. Their milky, light-diffusing surface gives each vase, bottle, or decorative vessel an elegant presence, making these authentic 1960s–70s designs a beautiful addition to vintage interiors and Italian art glass collections. Unfortunately this item has, we think, had a mishap and has a small rough area like a crack in the top corner, as shown in the last three photos
